Product Page Blocks and Catalog Templates

eCommerce Product Catalog includes blocks that display a whole product page, a category page or single parts of a product, such as its name, image or price. With a block theme you can use them in the Site Editor to design the catalog templates. With any theme you can use them in posts and pages to show a selected product.

Catalog templates in block themes

On WordPress 6.7 or newer, the plugin adds three templates that you can edit in Appearance > Editor > Templates:

  • Main Catalog Page – uses the Show Catalog block
  • Single Catalog Page – uses the Product Page block
  • Catalog Category Page – uses the Product Category block

Each template also includes your theme’s header and footer. You can add any other blocks around the catalog block, or replace the Product Page block with the individual product blocks below to build your own product page layout.

Page blocks

  • Product Page – shows the full product page. Without a selected product it shows the product being viewed. Use Search Product in the block settings to show a specific product anywhere.
  • Product Category – shows a category page with its products. Without a selected category it shows the category being viewed. Use Search Category to show a specific category.
  • Show Catalog – shows the main catalog listing. See Show Catalog block.

Product part blocks

  • Product Name – the product name
  • Product Image – the product image or gallery
  • Short Description – the product short description
  • Price Table – the product price with the add to cart button. Check Disable add to cart button to show only the price.
  • Related Products – products related to the current product, with an optional title. See Related Products.

By default these blocks use the product being viewed (Get product from context.), so they work in the Single Catalog Page template. Uncheck that option and use Search Product to show a selected product instead. Most part blocks also have alignment, font size, color and spacing settings.

A product part block shows nothing on the website when the product has no data for it, for example the Short Description block for a product without a short description. In the editor it shows a note instead.
